Femininity

For the first time in over a year and a half, I have painted nails! Since I am no longer working in the laboratory where I had my fingers in acetone and methyl ethyl ketone all day...I let my beautician friend paint them up! I am thoroughly enjoying it...much more than I thought I would. Never gave it much thought...but having a lovely girly shade of red on my fingertips makes me feel really sexy.

ok...now back to your regularly scheduled blog reading.

makeup

posted by sometrouble @ 1:35 PM | Test Category Two | Tuesday, February 06, 2007

How many times have you heard someone say that they like a women better without any makeup? They like the natural look. I bet everyone has heard at least one person say that at some point.

This is what I just dumped out of my makeup bag. I only wear one of those things on a very regular basis. Guess which one?

Some of the others are staples when I do put on makeup...but I usually don't get all made up unless I am going out to be in some sort of social situation. I don't bother with it for the store or being at home. I didn't wear it to work much either (because I always had no time in the morning). Even going to a restaurant with just my husband doesn't warrant a full beauty routine.

Which brings me to the puzzling part. My husband has told me that he likes me without makeup. He likes me natural, thinks I am very beautiful, and that I don't need all that. However, whenever I do put on some makeup, he always comments that I look beautiful. I love to hear that from him in any situation. The irony just got me thinking. What do men REALLY like?

My ex HATED makup and would protest when I put it on. I guess he was right, because at the time I wore it because I didn't like the way I looked. Now it's part of the routine... I keep some concealer because I hate having blemishes at 24, and some eyeliner/shadow/mascara for looking spiffy (it's all in the eyes!) but the one real staple that I can't go without is blush. It makes a HUGE difference not to look like a zombie! :D

catch up

posted by sometrouble @ 3:41 PM | Test Category Two | Wednesday, January 24, 2007

I feel like I can't get enough sleep lately. I wake up everyday feeling like I can't get my eyes to stay open. When I get up, I wander around the house having a hard time sticking to a task. I plan many things to accomplish in the day...and can't get going on any of them. I blame it on the husband. He is a big distraction...he has plans of his own for the day...and usually has some idea of what he feels I should do with the day too. He throws a big monkey wrench in my plans...then goes off to work at 2:00 and leaves me with a day half gone and none of my stuff accomplished. Also, I am alone. Which I don't like so much. It puts me in a bad mood day after day. I love seeing him more...and having mornings together, now that I am not working. But I hate being alone for 8 hours a day, 6 days in a row.

Too often, on his days off, he gets busy with a project, and spends all day doing it. It seems like I see him even less on those days. Last night after dinner, I asked him to come sit on the couch with me and just watch TV together and relax for an hour. He said he wanted to finish organizing the garage (which he had been at all day)...and that he only had a little left, then he would spend time with me. More than two hours later, he finally comes in at 10:30 PM...now there is nothing worth watching on TV, and I want to pick up a little in the kitchen. So much for spending some time together.

Today, he's been running around getting a workbench for the garage from a friend, picking up another friend to help him move it, dropping that friend back off at home, then running down to his mom's to get her so he can pick up his truck from the body shop (it was there because of me...whoops). Running to his Uncle's where we used to live...and a few other places...and when he gets back, we are going to have dinner and play cards with friends.

Tomorrow he is back to work again until next Wednesday.

Oh, and Caramel Apple Dip is a wonderful thing! That is all.

Sometimes you just have to make time to be together. Schedule a board game, a drive, a walk, or a bath (tee hee).

Also.. you're not working? That sounds pretty good to me right now...

Yes what is with this not working business? I found it to be delightful, yet boring after awhile. Being alone no es bueno.

Micah and I have had to schedule time to be together. We realized that we scheduled activities, friends, and other things into our lives and we gave each other backseat priority for time spent together. I highly recommend coming up with some "you guys" time and sticking to it. Good luck!

I have to admit, that is why I like Brad on mids and me on days. He does his erronds while I'm working/sleeping and I do mine while he is working/sleeping. This way we have time to actually spend together. Try telling Chad, the garage can wait and that YOU are the priority now. The garage/workbench/lawn/erronds will be there tomorrow. Once he realizes that YOU are now the priority, he may start slowly changing his ways. Just keep that in mind for yourself too. Besides that, try doing what you can while he's at work that way, you can expand your time. Don't worry, you'll figure out ways! Miss you guys! -Jenelle

Sorry to hear you guys aren't seeing a lot of each other. Other commenters have left some good suggestions. Hope something works. I wish I could offer some advice but I am still single...

And I'm also wondering about the not working thing. Are you taking up more full time with your photography?

At January 25, 2007 1:30 PM, Blogger Kat said...

Ah, that sounds relaxing... but I don't know how long I'd be able to do it. Two months of unemployment was about all I could take.

I, too, tend to get very involved in my time off. It's a tough compromise. Somehow I end up feeling like I have too much alone time and not enough!

Time is *not* on my side

posted by sometrouble @ 1:33 PM | Test Category Two | Thursday, October 26, 2006

I need a few more hours and a lot more energy in every day. Getting used to running a household is a challenge...adding a full time job with a 45 minute commute in traffic makes it seem almost impossible. I know it is possible, and I know there are many people doing it with no problem everyday, some of them have a child or five as well...but they've been doing it longer than I have. I know it will get easier as it gets more routine for me. I love to cook dinner for my husband, and I like feeling a sense of accomplishment keeping up MY house. I just feel like my head is just under the surface of the water all the time. No more lazy Saturday mornings, laying in bed with the husband until 11:00 AM. We have too many things to get done.

Yesterday, I needed to make a trip to Costco. I had been planning to go yesterday all week, since it was the first day that I didn't have other things going on after work. I was dreading it though, because 5:30 PM is a terrible time to be at Costco, or Meijer's, or driving around ANY shopping area with many big stores like that. But hubby needed deodorant (can't have him stinky now) and I wanted to get a few frozen food items now that we have a deep freezer which my mom so generously gifted us with last week as a "housecooling" gift. Plus I wanted to get one of their rotisserie chicken's for dinner.

So I left work at about 5:00 PM, went to the bank, then backtracked to Costco. I picked up what I needed, taste-tested all the samples they were offering, and grabbed a few clothing items for Chad. The lines were very long. Then it was back to work to end a test that was running...and I was on the road home at 6:00 PM.

Traffic sucked. I didn't make it in the door until after 6:45 PM. Shoved the still warm chicken in the over to thoroughly heat, boiled some frozen corn (I hate canned vegetables with a passion...and when fresh isn't available, frozen is the next best thing), and whipped up some Betty Crocker butter and herb mashed potatoes. I know boxed potatoes are not very good for you...but I was very tired...and NOT motivated to put out any more effort. The butter herb ones at least taste really good, and not like the cardboard box they came in.

My first time carving up a bird...I mangled it a little bit...but oh well. The milk for the potatoes boiled over on the stove, what a mess...mmm the aroma of burnt milk. When I was draining the water from the corn, half of it spilled in the sink. Luckily, I made a lot, and there was still enough. Now I have the chicken carcass and leftover meat to make me some homemade chicken soup on Saturday!

Chad loved it all, and that made me feel REALLY good. He cleaned up for me, and thanked me several times for a tasty dinner. That makes all the hassle so worth it. I love to cook for him. Five years ago, I wouldn't have imagined that I would have my own house to keep up, and a husband to feed. But here I am...with all the freedom of an adult...and all the responsibility to go along with it.

Today after work I need/want to:
- go to the drug store to pick up prescriptions and some miscellaneous items
- unpack and set up my desktop computer in preparation for our internet hook up tomorrow
- make a BIG start on all the dirty laundry
- take and edit photos for Stuff Portrait Friday
- organize and go through all my clothes so they fit in the closet and dressers
- watch Grey's Anatomy and Six Degrees
- unpack as many boxes as possible until I collapse

I want to get to these things in the near future:
- go to the fabric store and make my halloween costume idea
- go find some basic black pumps that are not too pricey
- get some coat hooks from the hardware store and put them up in the basement stairway
- make the house presentable
- get and carve some pumpkins
- frame and hang a painting I did
- print some photos for some frames I have (and hang)
- have my wedding gown cleaned and preserved
- sew some curtains for the guest bedroom
- etc. etc. etc.

making progress

posted by sometrouble @ 1:22 PM | Test Category Two | Tuesday, October 24, 2006

Sorry for the absence lately...since we moved I can no longer get the internet from a neighbor. (I know, bad bad bad.) So we have placed an order for our own service, because I CAN'T live without it! Honestly, I can't. Besides the blogging, and fun stuff...I can always get my email almost daily at work. But it's the little convienances like the online yellow pages when you want to find the closest chinese restaraunt, or getting directions or a map to somewhere, or checking a store's hours before I head out the door, or even researching our options for GETTING the internet that I really miss. We got a phone line hooked up last week, and will be getting painfully slow DSL, the cheapest speed they offer (for now) 786 kbps download. We will see how that goes and maybe upgrade the speed, or switch to cable if/when we get cable TV.

Chad dug out our sump pump drainage pipe, and replaced it with a bigger one. He should be filling in the giant trench as I'm writing this. His mom came out to the house yesterday and finished painting the trim work that hadn't been done yet. She painted the kitchen ceiling a fresh coat of white, and also painted the second coat of green (see this post) on the bathroom. I gave in, and since we hadn't purchased any more paint for the room...and I am sick of having only one bathroom, and it being in our bedroom, I let her do the second coat. I still don't LOVE it, but maybe I can make it work. If not, it's getting covered! I will just be happy to have that room in comission, and not have to worry about painting it.

I still have LOTS of boxes to unpack, and TONS of other things to do...but it is coming together, finally.

I can't live CANT LIVE without internet at home. I mean, I ordered our new internet service three weeks before we moved last time to make sure they'd be able to install it the DAY we got our keys.

I would have done the same...except I had to convince the hubby that we NEEDED it. He seemed to think if we had the internet, that I would not put anything away at the house, and just waste away my home hours on there. lol.

At October 26, 2006 11:10 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

He can put stuff away too, he's got capable hands! (That'd be my answer. haha)

But CZ would know better with me, as a me without internet is not a happy, cooperative or productive me!

haha! He would argue that he doesn't know where I want anything. Which is kinda a valid point...cause I'm the one who needs to be able to find the iron, or the food processor...and much of the most recent stuff we moved that is still in boxes came from my mom's house and is all my old stuff.
at least we are *supposed* to be getting it tomorrow...(fingers crossed)!

We interrupt this program...

posted by sometrouble @ 10:45 AM | Test Category Two | Thursday, October 12, 2006

...FOR THE MORNING NEWS...

WEATHER REPORT:
It was snowing here a few minutes ago! Ok, just lightly, and nothing is sticking...but it made me happy to see. I had no idea we might get a few flakes today, so it was a nice surprise for my morning. Chad called and said it was snowing pretty good at our house about 20 miles to the northeast...and actually sticking! He said his truck was already getting a pretty good dusting. I'm sure it won't be much, and it will all melt before I get home.

IN OTHER NEWS:
We are mostly all moved in, there are a few large things still stored in my mom's basement and garage that we have to pick up. I still have much organizing and unpacking to do, but it's getting there. We still need to figure out what color we're going to get and finish painting the green bathroom.

LOCAL NEWS:
We regret to report that we do not yet have an internet connection at the new house...not even a weak signal from a neighbor. So, until I get that set up, I won't be around as much. I actually had to use the real PHONE BOOK to find some Thai food last night!!! Can you believe it???

COLD SEASON ADVISORY:
Yes I have a cold. already. I stayed home from work yesterday because I was feeling so miserable, and the sudafed wasn't helping. I laid around and did not much of anything. Then I realized that I was supposed to take 2 pills not 1, and had only been taking half the dose. I feel better today, I think yesterday's rest helped a lot.

FELINE REPORT:
Cato seems to have something irritating his left eye. He blinks it more than the other one, and doesn't always have it open all the way. I called a friend who is a vet tech, and she said to try putting some contact solution in there a couple times a day, and if that doesn't help after a few days, she can get us some medicine for him.

WE NOW RETURN YOU TO YOUR REGULARLY SCHEDULED PROGRAMMING.

OMG moving day!

posted by sometrouble @ 6:33 PM | Test Category Two | Tuesday, October 03, 2006

I was informed late this morning by my husband over the phone, while I was at work, that he was planning to move our bed, dressers, couch, and other big furniture to the house TOMORROW. 11 AM I was told. 6 hours left to be stuck at work stressing about how the heck I am going to get EVERYTHING ELSE we own packing in an organized fashion before 7 AM tomorrow, and still have any energy left for tomorrow.

I went and got myself a 20 oz. Carmel High Rise from Caribou Coffee...which is basically a caramel latte with whipped cream. At this point, my attitude is: SCREW IT. I will do what I can, I am taking tomorrow off work...and will take Thursday off too if I have to.

Now I am realizing that I don't have any real photos showing our apartment...the first place we lived together. This makes me sad. I'm with Lazy Lightning in that I love to have pictures of EVERYTHING. I'm just not nearly as organized with mine as she is. I'm hoping to change that when we get moved in, and I have my desktop computer back. Now almost all my photos are on my hard drives. I want to print them, organize them, and album them. My parents took many photos as I was growing up...but the albums fizzle out somewhere around age 4 for me, I think. I always wanted to see photos of this or that...or their first apartment (where I was born) or the kitties they had when I was little and can't remember. Anyway...the apartment is a DISASTER right now...in no shape for photo taking. And there are empty boxes piled everywhere. I will just have to make the best of it, and take some while I'm packing things.

Oh the places you'll go!

posted by sometrouble @ 11:57 AM | Test Category Two | Tuesday, September 12, 2006

Woke up this morning just before the alarm. Our room was dark and I just laid there between my sleeping husband and kitten listening to the pouring rain. The crisp air smelt fresh and I snuggled deeper under the covers wishing I didn't have to move at all this morning.

Lazy Lightning's recent wedding and honeymoon trip as well as Numine and Rachemicah's annual trip to Glacier National Park has gotten me thinking about trips I REALLY want to take. Here's a list of the places Chad and I want to go together (preferably before we have kids), in some sort of order of likelyhood to actually happen:

~ Niagara Falls (I've been many times...he's never seen it)
~ Chicago (Pretty close to us, he's been there, I never have.)
~ Mackinac Island (This is where Chad proposed to me on my first trip there two years ago. We both love it, and want to go back MANY times.)
~ The Bruce Peninsula in Ontario, Canada. (Camped with my family as a child there, my mom and sister went camping there last year, and will probably go again, so we can go with them.)
~ Michigan's Upper Peninsula Been there camping as a child, want to see it again!
~ South or North Manitou Island or both...backpacking and camping!
~ San Diego (I've been once, didn't get to go to the zoo, he's never been to CA!)
~ New England I have no concept of what this area is like, I would like to see and experience it with Chad.
~ Road Trip Out West (I want to drive all over, and see everything...did you know that I-94 goes all the way from the Port Huron, Michigan/Sarnia, Ontario border to Billings, Montana?
~ Idstein Germany (and all over the country, that is the town I spent 3 months living in with my grandparents who lived there a year.)

That's all I can come up with at this moment. Where do YOU want to go? Comment your lists...or post them on your own blog (just tell me, so I can come see)...or even tell me just ONE place you dream of visiting. If anyone DREAMS of Detroit...I can help with that! I'm making this into my own made-up meme of sorts...and if nobody answers, I will be FORCED to start TAGGING people! Mwahahahahaha!

Hmm. A lot of your places are very achievable, which is awesome. you could even kill a few birds with one stone if you took a road trip sometime!

New England is very different, and SO beautiful (houses and buildings hundreds of years old, etc). Bring your camera! CZ and I visited Boston and Salem in 2004 with his family (see my gallery), and I have been to Nova Scotia and highly recommend it.

Places I'd like to go?

Well... some island/paradise destination, sometime (Bahamas, Hawaii, Cancun, whatever). We're not very 'islandy' type people, which is exactly why I think it'd be different and fun.

The grand canyon, because I think everyone should see it and I haven't.

Back to the Banff area to spend some serious time.

Back to Nova Scotia because I was 13 last time, and VERY teenaged about the whole family vacation ordeal.

To see my mom and dad in the east.

To see CZ's family in the west.

Seattle to see various friends.

Europe (thinking France, Spain, Germany)

Japan (because it would be SO strange to me)

Oh yea...we want to go on a cruise at least once. I've heard some people don't like it...and I might prefer to have freedom to go wherever...but I hear Alaska cruises are amazing!

I haven't seen the grand canyon yet either...that would be on the "to see" list if we went driving.

You should go to St. Martin. It was perfect...we went for our honeymoon. Not too ritzy...but TONS of fun. The island is small enough that it was easy to find things to keep us occupied when there. Chad's not one fore sitting on the beach 24/7, so we rented a car and had adventures...I should blog the trip...never got around to that.

-Alaska, for wildlife photography and backpacking

-The Canyonlands in Utah, for backpacking

-Patagonia, with Justin's dad next spring

and finally...

-Antarctica because it's like nowhere else on earth

Happy Birthday Baby!

posted by sometrouble @ 5:09 PM | Test Category Two | Thursday, August 31, 2006

(warning: sentimental mush to follow)
Today is my husband's birthday. I don't think he usually reads my blog...he knows about it...just doesn't check it. He asked me once to just tell him verbally what I write every time I post. I don't see the point...so I don't. But he knows where to find this. Anyway, I do want to write about him. I found this quote one day on some wedding forum back when I was planning the big event and it is really perfect even though I know it sounds really cliché. I think it may have gone around as a chain letter at one time, but I don't care.
Find a man who calls you beautiful instead of hot, who calls you back when you hang up on him, who will lie under the stars and listen to your heartbeat, or will stay awake just to watch you sleep...wait for the man who kisses your forehead, who wants to show you off to the world when you are in sweats, who holds your hand in front of his friends, who thinks you're just as pretty without makeup on. Wait for the one who is constantly reminding you of how much he cares about you and how lucky he is to have you.... The one who turns to his friends and says, "that's her"
All of those things are exactly my husband, and I love that. He told me once that he told his best friend after we had been dating a short time that "if this relationship lasts a year, I am probably going to marry her." And he did...but it took four years for that to happen. :o)

I am so thankful that I found Chad because:
He is my best friend.
The sense of security I feel by being with him.
He makes me feel beautiful and loved.
All the great times we have shared together.
When I am with him I never feel alone.
The sense of completeness I feel with him.
With his support I feel like I can face or achieve anything.
I can be myself around him.
He makes me laugh.
He loves me for who I am.

I love him so much! Happy Birthday Honey!

Aww, that post is really sweet! I love when Chris calls me beautiful instead of hot. Sometimes I have to remind him that hot isn't really a compliment much anymore these days. I'd much rather be beautiful than hot. I love that picture too! Your dress is beautiful (at least from the back LOL!)

Have a great weekend!!
