makin' money...doing nothing!

This really isn't THAT big of a deal...but I am super-excited...

I just logged in to my cafe press account, which I set up back in August...and I have made $15.80!!! I only set up a free account, which limits you to offering each item with only one design. Basically, I set it up out of curiosity...uploaded a few photos...played around with setting up merchandise and pricing...and that was it. It was really easy to do, and you set the prices above the base price based on how much profit you want to make. I tried to keep prices low, I pretty much only make about $2.00 per item. But for just forgetting about it, and collecting the cash...I can't complain.

I sold this BBQ apron, two mousepads, a refrigerator magnet, a jr. spaghetti tank top, a framed tile, a blank journal, and a baby bib...all with the strawberry design. Apparently, that one is much more popular than the other two:

I didn't expect to sell anything...there are SO many designs available on cafe press...that I didn't think mine would really catch any one's eye. But there are LOTS of shoppers, and just the time to open it payed off.

I recommend that anyone who doesn't already have a shop, should set one up. It is free, quick, and easy. You never know who might want to buy your stuff.

If anybody does set up a store, I would really appreciate it if you used me as your referrer, that would really help me out A LOT. Just click the button below:

Design and Sell Merchandise Online for Free

Or enter my shop ID, which is "sometrouble" when you are signing up.

To visit my store you can always click the link over in the sidebar (next to the strawberry)...or here's one more shameless plug...

Support This Site

Ok...one last thing...I added a little link at the bottom of my sidebar. It is an experiment. I can earn money by people clicking that link to visit CafePress...so if you want to shop...please go through there. I am going to leave it up for a while, and see if it does any good. I really don't want to clutter this place up with ads, though.

New Background

posted by sometrouble @ 4:57 PM | Test Category Two | Friday, September 01, 2006

I have been wanting something for the background of the site for a while...but hadn't found what I really wanted, until I looked over at 1Greeneye. Lee is brilliant and talented...I love her patterns, textures, and brushes! Trouble is, now I can't decide what to use. I narrowed it down to these three styles then modified the coloring a bit with Lee's permission to better match the site. I am planning on toning down or completely removing most of the gray things remaining on the site, including changing the sidebar headings to match the banner font and color...so don't worry if it looks funny with that. The current background is also from Lee's art, and that would be number 6.

I can't make up my mind, so even if you normally never comment...please give me your opinion. You can full view the samples if you click them. Thanks!

I like the one you have up. Option 6. It's softer so it doesn't jump out at you but completes the site and ties in the other colors you are using.

So, that's my input :)

I'm going with 5!

3 is also cute. Now I have to go over there and look myself, because my bloggy needs a facelift too!

I think I like 2,3,4. For some reason, the ones with the darker flower pattern seem to look better. Hope this helps!

According to them...

"2% scored higher (more nerdy), and
98% scored lower (less nerdy).

What does this mean? Your nerdiness is:

All hail the monstrous nerd. You are by far the SUPREME NERD GOD!!!"

Woah.

technical complaints

posted by sometrouble @ 2:07 PM | Test Category Two | Sunday, August 20, 2006

I've misplaced my Canon Powershot. I am so frustrated, I have looked everywhere I can think of. Our apartment isn't that big...it has to be somewhere. I just can't remember where I put it. I brought out the Nikon today, and took some photos of Harriet, the cat that Chad's uncle adopted from the neighbor across the street. We were thinking of taking her, but he wanted her now, so she is living downstairs since yesterday. She really is a nice cat, and rather cooperative with regard to the photos. I found that all three batteries I have for that camera were dead when I got it out, that was a bummer. Also, I can't find the AV cable that can connect it to a TV for viewing photos. That is probably still at my mom's house somewhere.

Also, I am really getting annoyed with my laptop's monitor settings. I can't get them right. Everything is so bright and there is not enough contrast to distinguish some light colors from the white. When I fiddle things around to where they seem right for viewing my blog...then photos look too dark. I have folders full of shots I want to edit...some of which I have promised to do for other people, but I can't because I know they won't look right when printed. Anyone have any good methods for setting brightness, contrast, and gamma? I tried a freeware program from Nikon, but I don't have buttons or knobs for manual adjustment, only software adjustment. I can't wait to get in the house so I can set up my desktop again. I miss that big old thing!

I like the name Harriet for a kitty.
It reminds me of a cat in the Cat Wings series that I used to read when I was little.

Did you ever read those books?

I never read those books...actually never even heard of them...but I did read "Harriet the Spy" and that was my favorite book for a long time. :o)
