tank update
The good news is...there is some life left in it yet. The hermit crab is alive and seems pretty ok. The nassarius snail is ok...and was sliming all over the tank eating up decaying gunk. Also, Magellan (the brittle starfish) is alive but seems a little "off". If starfish can have brain damage (assuming their simple brains are capable) he seems like he does. He is moving, but he stays mostly crumpled in a pile with his legs all curled in to his body. He has climbed to the top of the tank to perch on the magnet cleaner, though. I hope he pulls through. The zooanthids don't seem completely dead...but they are considerably hoed out...all droopy and not opening much. But I hope they perk up. I did a gallon water change after removing everything dead I could see. Now I can only wait...and try to figure out some way to keep the temp down without having to buy a $200 chiller. We shall see.

glad to hear that there are some survivors! ... even though they may be loopy or brain dead.
Magellan is likely very stressed and probably going to be mentally retarded for a while. Try to keep the poking around in there to a minimum and make sure there aren't any additional shocks to the tank environment for a while and he may recover. This coming from your friendly local pet-store nerd. And yes, its lovely how durable snails are.... (and how good they taste with a little garlic butter. mmm) Glad they didn't all die.
